I have always been rather slender with little to no effort, however thanks to my mother's genes, I have a REALLY big bottom!!! Imagine Beyonce's rear on say, Natalie Portman.  It is waaaay out of proportion with my body, my waist is about 27 or 28 inches, my rear measurement though is at least 40.  I really don't know what to do about it , because I am otherwise slim, my arms are thinner than most teenagers I know, and when I lay down my chest goes flat!!!! This is really annoying because I would like to reduce my bottom but I don't want my chest to disappear!!!  Is there any exercise that can improve my bottom without affecting the rest of my body too much???  I've started walking for about 30 minutes a day, and I've cut down on the amount of junk food I eat, but i haven't seen much improvement.  Has anyone else out there managed to reduce a trouble area???

Hi and welcome! I know exactly what you're talking about-I have a friend who was strangely thin everywhere but her rear. She used to complain that everything she ate went straight from her mouth to her butt and believe me, she had enough junk in her trunk for a several women! She hired a trainer who put her on an all over exercise program including 30 minutes of cardio a week and had her doing lunges and squats several times a week. I've honestly never seen anyone do as many squats as this gal did but it's working for her. Within months her transformation was very noticeable and her shape looks so much more normal. She still has quite a booty but nothing like it was and she's so proud of herself.

Check out some of these ideas (including the perfect squat) and add a few into your workout routine. Good luck-You should start noticing some differences in just a few weeks:

Hi! I would have to say that the best way to remedy this is cardio and lower body strength training. The cardio helps burn the fat that's there and the strength to help develop the muscles. Lunges and Squats will be best.

Also you will need to change up your routine ever 4-6 weeks. Your body will get used to the cardio you do & the strength exercises.

The food is actually at least 50% of the battle. I know you are thin elsewhere, but it does make a difference. It has taken me a looooong time to realize this! But it really makes a huge difference to cut back on the food.

Good luck and keep track of your measurements once every 3-4 weeks so you can track your progress! Can't wait to hear more!
