Depends what kind of office...  they're very appropriate in DH's office.  He's a farmer.  *wink*  They'd be just as appropriate in any of the other agriculture-related offices in the area as well.  Assuming you mean a stereotypical big city office though, yes I think boots can be perfectly appropriate if they're a style to match the rest of the outfit.  There are lots of dressy boots, both with and without heels on the market today.

 

We live in the middle of agribusiness-land, so it's not unusual to see people with cowboy boots on -- but it you're talking about the thigh high ones and a mini-skirt, no it's not appropriate.

When I was at the courthouse a few weeks ago, one of the attorneys was bragging about his new pair of snakeskin boots he was wearing, and I piped up with, "An attorney wearing snakeskin.  That's somehow appropriate."  I just got glared at.  :-D

"An attorney wearing snakeskin.  That's somehow appropriate."

I think boots are fine, depending on what type of office it is and the dress code, as well as the outfit they are being worn with.  I'm better with boots that too short skirts or too revealing tops.
