From Dr. Madelyn Fernstrom:

There's been a lot of buzz about the importance of having "in your face" calorie counts for fast foods. I'm wondering if seeing a calorie label posted by the food - in the same size font as the price - will be a factor in consumer choice. I'd like to think so, but I'm not so sure. Would it be a factor in your decision?

I think it would be a great idea, particularly on large or extra large cokes. Many people don't understand that drinks are as fattening as food.

I shudder to think how many calories are in a large french fries. I bet a Big Mac is an entire day's calories.

It will only matter to those that currently count their calories.  People that do not count their calories will not care and will not look.

I'm with you on the large fries though....I know weight watchers has a "point" assigned to it and it is up there just for a small.  Sodas are 3 points for 8 ounces.  And you only get a certain amount of points.

I can gareentee that it would stop me in my tracks. I don't count calories, its not important to me, but seeing that a large fries in 500 calories and 30 grams of fat, I would defiantly think twice about eating them. Just for the fact that its gross. a 1/4 of my daily intake of calories on just the fries. Not a chance. Not worth it.

I don't keep track of calories at all, but I am aware of how many are in foods that I eat. I like to make sure that I'm getting enough, and I also try not to go way over what I need. I like having all the nutrition info available, not just calories, because I try to get enough fiber, calcium, and other nutrients in my diet, and if I don't get enough protein I can really feel it when I'm working a long day. I don't have enough energy. When you are dealing with foods you haven't prepared yourself it's very hard to guess on those things, so I like having the information available. I will look it up online if I have to but I'd rather it be posted in the restaurant somewhere, or printed out in a brochure or something.
