hi, karla! love, love, love this topic! and that was a terrific blog entry you pointed us to. i've never checked that blog out before . . .
so, what do i think about my own hair length? right now i'm growing it out from a pixie cut and just trying to keep it fun and funky in the meantime with cool color, trims to keep the ends healthy, and using clips, barrettes for variety in style. why am i growing it out? i absolutely love it short, so i wonder sometimes. ;-) but i'm doing it for something new. it hasn't touched my shoulders since my son was a baby (he's now 6 years old), so i figured "why not?"
that said, i like variety and change in my hairstyles. so once i grow it out, it'll just be a matter of time before i start playing again and gradually going shorter -- having all sorts of fun along the way! i rarely keep it in one style and/or color for very long -- i might go a year or two tops before i move onto something new. and i am a big fan of *drastic* changes. i've had my hair at both ends of the length spectrum from mega-short to mega-long. and have gone from long to short in a single cut, left the salon entirely happy with my choice, and thrilled with the metamorphosis. ;-)
i liked licari's tips for keeping long hair looking its best. long hair is not a virtue in and of itself, and if not treated well can really make a woman look unkempt and styleless. keeping shape in the style and protecting from damage are key.
