I know it's something I think about often these days as I'm twisting my hair up into a clip and I find I'm constantly debating myself over whether I should let it grow longer, get it cut shorter, or..you probably get the picture. Well I came across this rather interesting Loius Licari blog on hair and have decided that maybe my hair is too long. But then again I did just get it cut several inches earlier this year so I think it actually needs to grow a bit longer...okay so it didn't help me much but it certainly is interesting.

One of the questions people ask me most frequently is, "Is my hair too long?" Hair length paranoia can be caused by your height, weight, body shape and, most often, age. I think one of the biggest fears of any woman is that she'll look young from the back and old from the front. The thought of a construction man giving a woman passing by a once-over only to quickly jerk his head forward when he sees her face is a legitimate cause for a nervous breakdown. No one should be put through this trauma. After all, who wants to look silly? With a little common sense and a full-length mirror, this gross error easily can be avoided.

hi, karla! love, love, love this topic! and that was a terrific blog entry you pointed us to. i've never checked that blog out before . . .

so, what do i think about my own hair length? right now i'm growing it out from a pixie cut and just trying to keep it fun and funky in the meantime with cool color, trims to keep the ends healthy, and using clips, barrettes for variety in style. why am i growing it out? i absolutely love it short, so i wonder sometimes. ;-) but i'm doing it for something new. it hasn't touched my shoulders since my son was a baby (he's now 6 years old), so i figured "why not?"

that said, i like variety and change in my hairstyles. so once i grow it out, it'll just be a matter of time before i start playing again and gradually going shorter -- having all sorts of fun along the way! i rarely keep it in one style and/or color for very long -- i might go a year or two tops before i move onto something new. and i am a big fan of *drastic* changes. i've had my hair at both ends of the length spectrum from mega-short to mega-long. and have gone from long to short in a single cut, left the salon entirely happy with my choice, and thrilled with the metamorphosis. ;-)

i liked licari's tips for keeping long hair looking its best. long hair is not a virtue in and of itself, and if not treated well can really make a woman look unkempt and styleless. keeping shape in the style and protecting from damage are key.

I say to keep your hairstylist in business and get regular cuts and chemicals, haha. Considering I be one. Hairstlyist that is...

I'm DYING for a cut right now, but I'm all about trying to decide the right timing, with my social life, with my paychecks, with the weather....ugh. Right now, I have long, strawberry blond hair (natural), but I have MAJOR split ends. I want to get several inches chopped and then deepen the color to a darker auburn with high and lowlights. We'll see, though. It's spendy up this way!
