Hi there!

Thanks in advance for your help - I'm considering hiring a nutritionist.  Can anyone tell me how to find one who is credible?  What specifically do they do for/with you and how much in general do they charge?

If any of you have one or have had one, I'd love to hear your experience, if you don't mind sharing!

Thank you!

Pink

I don't know much about nutritionists, but I would bet your family Dr. could guide you in the right direction. Your local hospital may even have a list of nutritionist they use for their patients.

Hi pink,
I like the idea of what the OP suggested,
Ask your doctor or even at a local hospital.
Also if you know anyone using a nutritionist .. they could help too.
Let us know how that goes for you :)

Instead of a nutritionist, I strongly urge you to seek out a Registered Dietician.  Basically anyone can call him or herself a "nutritionist", but a Registered Dietician has specific education and strict training in the dietary arena, and also are taught counseling skills.  RD's can range fro $50-$100 per session, depending on the length of your session, whether or not they see clients on a sliding scale, and if you have health insurance, the visit may be covered by it under your plan.  Seeing a RD is a wonderful experience, and the knowledge you will gain is worth the money.

I agree with PP. Look for a registered dietician. Its a protected title and they are required to be licensed. If you look up your state registered dietician certification body they usually have a list of RDs in your area. Good luck!
