My name is Shelly. I am a 25 year old single mom to two beautiful little monsters, DS Landon who is 3 and a half and DD Leah, who will be 2 in December. I've been overweight my whole life and since starting my new job (as a CNA) I have lost 45 lbs. I weigh 161 lbs, which is the least I have weighed in I don't even know how long. I haven't been working out or eating healthy and the weight that I've lost has motivated me to get fit...I already have a lot hanging from what I've already lost...I have thought about starting the couch to 5k program and would love to start running! I've been a member of the December 2007 Sugarplums for a long time and enjoyed all their support. I would really appreciate the support on this board :) I really need the motivation!! TIA

Hey Shelly!

Welcome to the board. You've come to the right place to get motivational tips and ideas. We all are here trying to get fit or stay fit.

The Couch to 5K program is one of the best, I've heard. If you want to get started, then do it. It sounds like you are already doing phenomenal with the weight loss.

Are you planning to work out at home or a gym? Do you need ideas to get started?

Hi Shelly and Welcome to the Board! You have done awesome with your weight loss so far! I'm on Week 4 of the Couch to 5K program and think it's great - ESPECIALLY if you dowload Robert Ullery's podcast (free on itunes)!

Sorry for the late Reply Shelly. I am glad you found us. It sounds like you have a great head start on working towards your goals. And finding that initial motivation tends to be the hardest part. So I am glad you are ready to really take all of this on.

Just tell us what you need as far as support (Shoulder to cry on, Drill sargent to remind you to do what you need to, or mix of both) and we are more than happy to help you out here.

I am glad you found us and feel free to make yourself at home

I'm new as I just found this message board yesterday.  I would love to hear everyone's tips and tricks.

I have 4 kids with my oldest being almost 14 and the youngest 5.  I have been struggling with losing baby weight for a Long time.  And I do mean struggling.  I was going to the gym 4 days a week and alternating between running and water aerobics.  I would also throw in some Zumba when I was able to work it time wise.  I went on a pretty boring diet, but after 6 months with no weight loss, I cut back on my gym time.

I've been struggling like this for 8 years, that's when I really tried to kick the weight.  I don't have a lot to lose--about 30 pounds, but my body just seems to want to sit here at 160 no matter what I do.

Would love to hear what everyone does and maybe some good dvds for home use since I don't have time to get to the gym right now with my busy craft season coming full bloom.  I look forward to reading and participating.

Kim
