So, the cardiologist said not to do anything out of the ordinary while I am wearing this heart monitor. I haven't been running lately bc of school so obviously that's out. What about some light weight lifting?? That shouldn't have a huge impact on my HR, right? Or yoga?? I was doing that occassionally before I was wearing this monitor.  I'm getting a little antsy not exercising, I need to do something! Any suggestions??

You'd get very little benefit out of light weight lifting, unless you're doing enough reps to fatigue your muscle and that should bring up your heart rate.  If you're lifting light weight and not fatiguing your muscles, you're wasting your time.  And, there are schools of thought that light lifting is useless, either way.  Can you walk with a friend and talk?  It'll help keep you from going too fast because you're talking the whole time and need to maintain a conversational pace.  There are different types of yoga on how much it raises the heart rate.  Whatever you do, just make sure to keep breathing.  I'd run it by the doctor, first, and ask him/her what you can do.

I'd say an easy yoga routine would be fine, such as one that's more focused on stretching and relaxing than strength and balance. Other than that, yeah, I think you're limited to easy casual walking. Good luck!!
