All spring and summer I was running 4-5.5 miles about 6 days a week. Now, it is colder, dark earlier, and I am working 3 jobs and I am lucky to fit in 2 runs a week!!! Am I going to lose all the benefits I gained before? Should I not even bother if I can only run 2 or 3x a week? Or sometimes only once? I am a substitute teacher, and work 2 retail jobs (and have 3 kids!), so when I am working, I'm on my feet constantly and walking around alot. I guess that is some exercise... more so than sitting at a desk all day. But still... I feel like I should be running and am irritated that I just don't have much time to fit it in anymore. I am concerned I am going to gain back the several pounds I lost and lose muscle tone and stamina I had built up. Is running just a couple days a week better than nothing at all?

And no, I don't have a treadmill and don't belong to a gym. I either run outside or do nothing! ;o)

Yep. Some running is better than none. Keep it up. If only for your sanity. But you will stay more fit than you think and feel better for it. My sister asked me how many days of the week I "plan" to run? I said, "7". Because invariably life interferes and gives me my rest day without my having the ability to plan for it. And my life is a lot like yours so it ends up being more than one day. Frustrating but there it is. Just keep running. Grab every minute you can, for yourself and your family. Feel better.

If you keep doing cardio/running, two days a week, it should be enough to maintain your current level of fitness, as long as you keep it the same intensity.  So, keep it up!:-)
