Ali

What advice would you have for those who would like to use SF to lose weight but they also like to limit the "bad carbs"?

Thanks

Barb

Barb,

You can absolutely use Slim-Fast while limiting your "bad carbs" - in fact, we recommend it!

The carbs that you want to aim for are those that are more complex.  For instance, whole-grain breads and pastas, brown rice, grains such as quinoa or amaranth, sweet potatoes, beans, or starchy vegetables such as corn or peas.  Another great source of carbohydrates is fruit.  Though technicially considered a simple carbohydrate, fruit provide fiber, as well as great vitamins and minerals.

Aim to incorporate these good carbohydrates at snacks, as part of your meal combination, and as part of your Sensible Meal.  For instance, at your meal combination, you might have a piece of whole grain bread with a couple of slices of turkey.  At dinner, you might have a 1/2 cup of brown rice in addition to 4-6 ounces of grilled chicken and 2 cups of steamed vegetables.  And, at snacks, you might have a piece of fruit, or a serving of whole-grain crackers.

Hope that helps!
