Hi Ali,

I am new to this, and I have a few questions for you...

1. Is Slim Fast safe?

2. What would the correct plan be for someone with my stats:

I am 5 ft, 147lbs

Thanks in advance!

Jetsluvr,

Thanks for your questions!

1.  Slim-Fast products do not contain any drugs, stimulants or appetite suppressants.  They are safe, nutritional foods that can help people control their calorie intake and lose weight.  In fact Slim-Fast is one of the most researched diet plans in the U.S., with over 35 published clinical studies that document balanced, healthy and effective weight loss.

We do suggest that if you want to lose weight and are under 18, pregnant, nursing, following a diet recommended by a doctor, have health problems such as diabetes, or want to lose more than 30 pounds that you see a doctor before starting the Slim-Fast or any diet.  This disclaimer is stated on all Slim-Fast products.

While following the Slim-Fast Optima Diet, we recommend a healthy weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week after the first week, as rapid weight loss may cause health problems and is difficult to maintain over the long term. In addition, we do not recommend the use of Slim Fast as a sole source of nutrition and, and we do not promote eating less than 1,200 calories a day.

2.  Based on your stats, we would recommend the following plan:

1 Slim-Fast Shake or Meal Bar

1 Slim-Fast Shake or Meal Bar plus 200 calories (i.e. half a turkey sandwich)

1 Sensible Meal (approximately 500 calories)

4 Fruits or Vegetables

1 Snack (approximately 120 calories)

The goal is to eat every 2-3 hours.  This helps to prevent hunger and overeating later on.  Also be sure to include at least 8 8-ounce glasses of water each day, as well as 30 minutes of moderate exercise.

Feel free to call me at 1-800-SLIMFAST (754-6327) if you have additional questions.

                                                                 ~Ali~
