I am in search of a diet that will help me lose weight in a healthy way. I am interested in a being healthy and that starts with getting to a healthy weight.  Just a little background.  I am 34 years old.  4'11 180 lbs and I want to get to 100-115.  I have PCOS and carry my weight in my middle section.  So I so need a diet that will help level out my insulin levels.  I am not much of a cook...no kidding...macoroni is a feat for me.  That is part of the reason SlimFast appeals to me.  Also time is an issue and I am more likely to stick with a diet plan if it is simple and quick.  My main concern is that there is too much sugar...even in the high protein varieties..and that would not help with my insulin levels.  Also I didn't know if SlimFast was really recommended for those that had as much weight to lose as I did.  I know that a diet like South Beach is ideal because it does focus on blood sugar...however I have tried that...and just can't seem to stick with it because it is not as convenient.  I think I just need to get started on something and to see results .....to help with my motivation and keep me upbeat and optimistic about my journey to getting healthy.  Please give me any feedback you find helpful..and would love to hear anyone share their experiences on SlimFast. Thanks!

What a great question!

First, the Slim-Fast Plan can help if you want to lose 10 pounds or 100 pounds!  No matter what, we recommend a healthy rate of weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week.  This way, the weight loss will be more maintainable in the long-term.

As for the PCOS, I do recommend that you consult your physician regarding how many grams of carbohydrates you should aim for throughout the day.  If you are truly to stick to a low-carb diet, then you might wish to try our Lower Carb Shakes (they come in Creamy Chocolate and Vanilla Cream) and our Lower Carb Plan on slim-fast.com.  The Lower Carb Shakes only contain 2 net grams of carbohydrates, and only 1 gram of sugar.

Once you find out the recommendations from your doctor, I would be happy to try and customize your diet with you.  You can feel free to give me a call at 1-800-SLIMFAST (754-6327).  I am available Monday through Friday, 9AM to 4:30PM EST.
