Well its been long LONG time but I am finally motivated to start back up exercising. I bought the TransFIRMer system a while back and did the supercharged sculpting a few times (loved it), so now that I am back to it, I decided I should probably try another one.

I chose Aerobic Body Shaping..for the majority of the work out I liked the moves and felt like I was really working myself. However I am really uncoordinated when it comes time for some of the aerobic dance like moves. If you recall the tape, she does some stuff with box steps and up on the transFIRMer I just couldnt follow and got really disgusted.

My question is- what other workouts can someone recommend similar to Aerobic Body Shaping? I have a treadmill I use for cardio, so I'm really looking for sculpting and toning. Also, though I am just starting back up, I'm not a beginner so I can handle a challenge (and welcome it).

Thanks!
Kim

Hi Kim! I think I have EVERY workout from BSS1 to the TransFirmer (which I think woudl have been BSS4). A few of my personal favorite cardio+sculpting (which I think is what this video is) are from other series but could be adapted to use your transfirmer. My personal favorite-favorite is Allie's Cardio Sculpt. It's from BSS1 and like I said it uses a different step (it's a box), but I use my TransFirmer with the video. It's a little more clunky to move around, but definitely doable. And in some cases, I actually prefer the TransFirmer because it's a wider base (for push ups, some of the step moves, etc.). BUT! My point is there are tons of videos out there you could use. I personally like going to collagevideo.com and chekcing out clips of videos to get an idea of what I like.

A few I also like (but you might have to get two videos) are the Jiggle Free workouts. There are three: arms, legs and abs. I'm not a huge fan of abs, but I really like the arms and legs videos and they're made with the instructors using the TransFirmer videos. They're both 30 minute videos so when I want a long video I've done both (and I skip the first cooldown and the second warmup and come in under an hour). I also like Calorie Killer 2. But it's more of a cardio workout than weights, so that may not be your thing.

And if you want a really hard (but not dancy) sculpting video you could get Body Sculpt (also from BSS1). It's the hardest (in my opinion) sculpting workout since they startd with the BSS series. And you can actually get Cardio Sculpt (my fave listed above), Body Sculpt (the one I'm talking about now) and Ab Sculpt on one DVD in some places. Again, all of these use the original Fanny Lifter but I've done both with my TransFirmer.

I hope this is helpful! Check out some clips and see what yo ulike. Collagevideo also gives a good review of the video and in cases where they're really dancy I think it will soemtimes mention that, or at least account for it in the level of the video (beginner, intermediate, advanced). On a side note, though, if you keep on with the dancy moves after several times you'll get it down. And you'll have a hard time remembering when you coudln't do them! :-) Trust me! I'm not a dancer or choreography girl, and I can do most of the videos after several times through.

Good luck! Let us know if you have other questions!

-Kelly

Good for you for starting up again!  That's the hardest part right there.

Some of my favorites are Total Body Time Crunch, with Rebecca, for areo/tone.  Also, for sculpting, I like Hi Def Sculpt with Annie.  Two new favorites of mine are oldies,  Firm Parts Standing Legs, and Firm Parts Upper Body.  Both are complilations of other workouts put together to create a "new" workout.  Standing Legs is wicked,  with the added bonus of some real cardio.  Upper Body is also tough but short enough (37 mins.) to handle.  I bought the Firm Parts for $7.99 at totalfitnessdvds.com, and that is two workouts on one dvd.

Good luck and keep checking in.  I'm sure everyone would like to know how you're doing.

Sandra
