Hi. My names Tricia and I am 22.
I'm new and found this in a search, thought it might be a good idea to join.
I noticed that The 30 day shred is on exercise on demand right now and will be for about a week, so I decided to try before I buy.
I just finished day 1 Level 1 yesterday.
Honestly, I couldn't even do it today if I wanted to!! I must have pushed myself too much or not stretched out enough (which is usually always the case with me).
Do you guys usually add more stretches than just what she does on the Dvd?
My legs are almost useless to me now. My upper thighs are so stiff and I cry out in pain when I go to move them (I keep forgetting how bad they are hurt). This morning when I woke up I fell backwards.
This seems crazy to me because I am not a stranger to pain, I have broken my arms 5 times, ripped my patella tendon, and shattered my knee cap, and I have to tell you this exercise is painful. Lol.
I think maybe another reason that I am hurting so much is because I tend to take it easy with my left leg, due to injury I had. I am bow legged also, so my legs turn in towards each other. I managed to do all the moves, but could tell I was using more of my right leg instead of the left or evenly distributing and now my right upper thigh feels like it's torn in half. It must have been all those lunges? (I normally don't do that move when I
exercise due to my knees)
Did anyone else feel this way after their first day? Does anyone else have knees that aren't so good or have trouble keeping your body in alignment?I'm going to try to work out again tomorrow, hopefully my legs will feel better. Haha.
Any advice for me or ways I could improve this particular problem would be great!!!!
Nice to meet you all and Thank you!!

Hi and Welcome!

Oh believe me, I work out regularly, and am in decent shape, but I was very sore after doing Shred for the first time.

Most people are so sore they can't move for days. But that's because it does work and it is extremely effective. Some people have quit because of the extreme pain. But you gotta try and push through it.

Just try your best to do some stretching, walking and possibly do Shred again. It may be tougher today, but once you get into it, you muscles may release and you may feel better.

Yes, the legs are the worst pain. Its the lunges and squats.

You are perfectly normal and are feeling what everybody else did. But it's good--LOL. Just keep telling yourself that.

I stretch afterwards AND I walk a bit, even if it is walking in place. That helps loosen your legs from tightening up.

So good luck, keep going and let us know how it goes!

Thanks. Glad to know I'm not the only one who suffered. Haha.
Well, I just finished doing it again and this time through was easier because I knew what to expect. I am still very sore, but stretched out more and will continue to do so throughout the day and hopefully tomorrow when I wake up I wont feel awful.
Still having problems with my upper right thigh though. I know I am off balance a lot and sometime bend my knees incorrectly because I baby them.

How often should I do this program? I know it is every day for 30 days, but I think I may have to take it a bit slower than that. Perhaps 3 days a week to start?

Also, do you or anyone else know the best way to find out how many calories you should be eating? I don't diet and don't count calories, but I think I would see awesome results if I did, so I am trying to learn more about it.

I'm around 135-138 pounds (don't own a scale) I am not very toned and don't have a lot of muscle. I am a bit flabby because of this.

Do you think calorie counting would befit me? Or should I just try portion control?

Sorry for 20 questions. Lol. Just trying to do this right.

I think 3-4 days a week would be okay to start with. I think many people try to do it 5-6 but for some people, that's just unreasonable to ask.

I am glad to hear you had the nerve and gumption to keep going. It will get way better.

As for calorie counting, I know lots of people who do that and see wonderful results. My hubby lost almost 75lbs calorie counting.

How tall are you, and what is your goal weight?

I would suggest that most women like to eat about 1,200 calories a day or a bit less to lose weight.

There are tons of calorie counting books available at any drug store or bookstore. Get one and try it for a few weeks and see what happens.

Watching what you eat and doing Shred will thin you out and tone you up fast!

Be sure when you are calorie counting to watch what kinds of calories you eat---like don't fill up on donuts and have to forgo dinner or lunch because you wasted your calories. Instead, try to consume things like veggies, lean meats, whole grains and fruits for a well-rounded menu.

Hey, good luck.

Can you do all the pushups? Aren't they killer?

I'm 5'5 and about 136 pounds. I'm a size 9/10 jean.
I guess I'm looking to drop about 5 pounds or so.
I'm not really looking to drop weight, but I want to loose the extra fat and flab on my love handles, bum, lower tummy, and thighs. I know it will take toning and a little weight loss.
I guess when I was at my healthiest I was 125. But I'm not sure is the same healthy for me now, because that was a few years ago.
Ideally it would be nice to shape up and maybe drop down one pant size.

I've been working out quite a bit, but don't really see changes. I see my muscles sculpting, but none of the fat burns off, so that's why I was thinking about calorie counting. Maybe I would be better off with smaller portions and watching what I eat thought, because I don't need or want to drop a lot of weight.
Thanks for the advice though, I might pick up a book.

Are you the only one left doing this?
I have very poor upper body strength! Haha! I always have!! However, I do the modified push ups and keep everything as it should be and seem to be improving. Towards the end my arms drop and I can't seem to hold myself back up. Like, during the last 5 or 6. Haha.
If I keep this up I am not looking forward to moving to the 2nd Dvd because it sounds like the push ups get harder.
