In an post on this site it was stated that the FDA and the American Dietetic Association claimed that aspartame is safe to consume during pregnancy.

We found this post in the early stages of our pregnancy and based on that we continued our consumption of drinks with aspartame. We recently discovered that aspartame may not directly injure the fetus but the following links contain information that lead us to believe that aspartame may cause serious problems with the development of the brain. We suggest browsing through the following websites prior to eating anything with aspartame during pregnancy.

Needless to say, we were rather upset at not finding the above information earlier and are now concerned about our unborn child.
