A member of my other board came up with these questions, and I thought they are perfect for our discussions on FK... Looking forward to your input!

1. When grocery shopping, do you check expiration dates?

2. Will you buy & use things that are close to the expiration date?

3. What will you not buy or use near the expiration date?

4. What other ways do you use to tell when stuff is fresh?

5. What is something you believe you can use beyond the expiration date?

1. When grocery shopping, do you check expiration dates? ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!

2. Will you buy & use things that are close to the expiration date? bread and meat thats not expired.... they go straight into the freezer

3. What will you not buy or use near the expiration date? dairy products yuck!

4. What other ways do you use to tell when stuff is fresh? for  produce if it looks good...and the colouring of the meat...

5. What is something you believe you can use beyond the expiration date? Hmmmmm bread if its not mouldy... but then it would have to be used for toast.... but its actually illegal for stores to sell expired stuff.... and if we knowingly sell it at my grocery store... we can get fired!!!

Great questions!!!!

oh yes I freeze things too when they are close to expiration...

Glad you liked the questions,, I thought it would be a bit different for the members here.

So do you have to look at the expiration date before you ring it up?

No we dont have to look up the expiration date before ringing it up! No time for that! lol whoever is stocking the shelves should be doing their job and rotating stock!

But since I work in the deli.. we have to go around and check the dates on the cheese, and the dips.. etc etc...

1. When grocery shopping, do you check expiration dates?- yes

2. Will you buy & use things that are close to the expiration date? - sometimes, if I know I will be using it before it expires or can freeze it. Usually, if it's on sale & /or I need it for a meal.

3. What will you not buy or use near the expiration date? - things that I know I cant possibly use up before they go bad.

4. What other ways do you use to tell when stuff is fresh? - by looking at it, touching it (like bread/rolls)

5. What is something you believe you can use beyond the expiration date? - most everything. With a good fridge plenty of foods last way past expiration dates.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
