It's chilly and Octobery out there (that's a new word, by the way!), so now that Thanksgiving's dealt with, it's got me thinking about Hallowe'en. ;o)

1. Do you have children that will be needing costumes? Do you make or buy them?

2. Will you be dressing up for Hallowe'en? What as? (And what for? Party, work ...)

3. What kind of treats do you hand out?

4. Do you carve a pumpkin or use a fake one? Or none at all?

5. Do you roast the seeds from your pumpkin, or cook it when the night's over? (Not sure that's a good idea if you're using a real candle though - or if you carve it ahead of time!)

Bonus question: How many trick-or-treaters do you get at your door on average?

1. Do you have children that will be needing costumes? Do you make or buy them? I used to make them before he got a mind of his own. (so sad LOL) now he wants the horrible store bought ones. He'll be a Star Wars guy again this year. Costume from last year still fits.

2. Will you be dressing up for Hallowe'en? What as? (And what for? Party, work ...) Nope

3. What kind of treats do you hand out?  Buy something chocolately in case t here's leftovers, there usually are.

4. Do you carve a pumpkin or use a fake one? Or none at all?  Carve one but not until the day before Halloween. Too warm here and it will rot too quickly.

5. Do you roast the seeds from your pumpkin, or cook it when the night's over? (Not sure that's a good idea if you're using a real candle though - or if you carve it ahead of time!)  I tried roasting seeds once and they didn't turn out so hot. I've never done it again.

Bonus question: How many trick-or-treaters do you get at your door on average? None.  Maybe 5 in 12 years.

No kids to worry about here...

2. Will you be dressing up for Hallowe'en? What as? (And what for? Party, work ...)

I'm going the cheap and simple route this year -- just going to a family party as a chef. I found an inexpensive chef's coat and puffy hat at a local restaurant supply warehouse, and then bought a stick-on curly mustache at a costume shop. I'll dust myself with a little flour and be done with it.

3. What kind of treats do you hand out?

Mostly bags of various mini-sized chocolate bars, like Kit Kat, Snickers, Nestle Crunch, etc. We give out about 3-4 pieces to each visitor.

4. Do you carve a pumpkin or use a fake one? Or none at all?

We carve one fairly big one to set out on the porch, and I sometimes have a few small pie pumpkins or gourds inside for table decorations.

5. Do you roast the seeds from your pumpkin, or cook it when the night's over?

Roast 'em!

Bonus question: How many trick-or-treaters do you get at your door on average?

We got about 30 last year -- enough to be fun, but not enough to be a pain. ;)
