I have a new coffee grinder that claims the cup and cover are dishwasher safe. How often should a coffee grinder be cleaned?  It would seem silly to run the dishwasher every day just to clean the grinder. Is it necessary to clean them after every use?

I wash the cover when it gets unsightly.  It's not necessary to clean it often, unless you are using it for more than coffee (like for spices) but it is recommended that you have an additional grinder if you are doing spices.  Don't use anything in the coffee grinder except coffee, for best results.

Most of the time, just wiping it out with a paper towel is fine.  If you want to clean one without putting it in the dishwasher, put 3 tbsp of raw rice in it, whiz it up good, dump it and wipe out with paper towels.
