So, do you ever try new recipes at Thanksgiving? Ones you might have seen posted here on the board?

Or do you have to stick to the classics because your family will have a fit?

I always have the same things except for the sweet potatoes.  That's a different recipe every year because no one cares about those, lol.  But I do throw in different things and desserts as "additions" because I like to try different things.

I usually try something new but it has to be IN ADDITION to all my regular dishes... my family would have a cow if I eliminated any of them!

We always have the same traditional foods for the main meal of Thanksgiving. If I'm going to get creative and try something new it will usually be an appetizer.

The first year DH and I were married I tried many new recipes. Candied sweet potatoes for hubby, bread and celery stuffing (which I had never made or eaten, but LOVE it and can't wait til thanksgiving) hmm..I think I even did something different with the turkey.
I have no idea how thanksgiving is going to play out this year. We may end up ordering from somewhere, which saddens me. But I hate to leave dinner on DH and I doubt I'll have the energy to pull anything off...and our family is 20+ hours away.
