Moldy Smell in Quilt

We have a heavy comforter for the winter, and a lighter quilt for the summer. I just took out the quilt to switch over our bedding for the summer, and it had this horrible moldy smell. I washed it before I put it away last fall, and I guess it must not have been completely dry when I put it away. I am re-washing it--I have it in the washing machine now. Any suggestions to get rid of the smell?

Use vinegar to help with the smell, pour at least half the bottle in with the quilt.  If possible dry outside where air and sun can get to all sides and leave out all day and all night if possible.
