We have too much candy, all individually packaged.  What's your favourite thing to do with Hallowe'en candy?  Especially the excess that is not going to get eaten.

I've told my kids anything left at the end of the week is going in the garbage.  I'm not sure if I'll open the packages and put the contents in the compost or not, it could be a LOT of packages.

I know I have one or more recipes that use "leftover" candy in them. I can type it up if you are interested.

You can freeze some of it for later (chocolate may turn a bit white but still tasty).

Personally I would NOT put candy in the compost though.

I generally follow the 1-2 week rule though and my kids are only allowed 1 piece per day. We don't have a lot of candy though so.....

Our city collects compost, so they take all forms of food, including meat and bones and animal waste.  For a different city, someone put it as "if it' has DNA it goes in the green bin".

There won't be any chocolate candy left by the end of the week (that will be my fault), any recipes for the other stuff?

I was thinking personal home compost - lol! I forgot that the collect for compost there.

I am nursing baby right now, but will look for a use of the non-chocolate candy in a bit. That might be trickier, but I will look.

Just had to find the link again. A lot of them are for chcolate bars, but not all. http://www.recipe4living.com/articles/leftover_halloween_candy_recipes.htm

Another thought is that if you make a holiday gingerbread house you could use up some of the candy for adornments.

Let us know what you decide to do.
