I have sticker shock over a 9x14 ft kitchen renovation coming in at $50K (cabinets and appliances). Is this too much or too little for this size room? With a home worth $610K should I be concerned about how long it would take to recover this cost with home prices flat to down 5%? I expect to stay for another 5 years.

Hi Frizzy, welcome to our board. My understanding is the two most important remodles you can do that have the greatest impact for the price is the kitchen and bath because of the expense. Now we have a couple of kitchen and bath designers on this board, but if you're replacing everything as you say and having someone else do the work, it really seems like a reasonable price to me. The only difference between you and me is you're in a 600,000.00 dollar house having it done, and I'm in a rental doing it myself and should have my butt kicked from here to Tim-Buck-to, ROFL. Check with our professional designers though if ya wanna do some comparison shopping. c
