Hello! My name is Stephanie and I'm fairly new to iVillage.com. I'm been artistic since I was small but I can't decorate my house to save my life. I'm jealous of women who can. It's a gift I think. My sister got it.
I can paint a little and I love graphic design to a fault. I actually own my own business doing these things--custom designed drawer knobs and birth announcements, invitations, etc.
It's nice dealing with people who are decorating/redecorating on a daily basis because it gives me ideas for my own children's rooms. I have a dd-8, ds-almost 4, ds-2 and given what I do, you'd think their rooms would be a lot cuter than they are! I gave in and decorated my daughter's bedroom in the Disney princess theme for her 7th birthday. I'm not usually into using characters and such, but she begged for it so I did it. Painted a really cute castle on her wall and everything. She was ready for a new room 6 months later. So much for that. I see SO many room theme ideas from customers and still cannot make up my mind on what I can do for her room that she'll like and is also cute! Any ideas from you guys would be great!
Also, our two sons share a room. They are 18 months apart and the older one is autistic, epileptic, and developmentally delayed (he has a disease called Tuberous Sclerosis). I've also considered doing a character in that room too for some reason...Thomas the Tank. Actually, it's because he's great for autistic children--the facial expressions, the track, the videos, etc, so I've developed a "bond" with him. I may paint he, Percy, and James on the walls but not sure yet. Other ideas for shared rooms would be appreciated for them too! The room is about 13x15.
I didn't mean for this to be so long...sorry.
Can't wait to meet you all!
