The house we just moved into has crappy blinds you can tell they are like 10 years old. I want to add color to my living room. Most of my furniture is all black. I was wondering if Maroon would look good with it. And if not could you give me another color choice. I want like some kind of fabric that is see through so its harder for people to see in when I have the curtains open. But I want soild fabric panels on both sides. Im just not sure if it will look good. thanks for your help

I have the black/red-maroon/dark wheat color palette going on inside the house and it looks good. I can show you pics if you want.

Target has this curtains that are insulated- they do not have two kinds of different fabrics so they look the same from both sides. They are not see-thru but yet, they are very light.

I think Maroon sounds good..thats how I have my living room blinds. If you wanted to venture into getting nicer blinds they really arent that expensive and you could possibly use the same brackets as the original so you dont have to do new holes. You can always take downt eh good ones and take them with you when you move!

Target and JCPennys has a good selection of maroon and red curtains.  They also have good quality with a low price.  If the blinds are ugly take them down and put them back up when you move.  Curtains seem to be very stylish right now.  All the home magazines and shows seem to be showing curtains not blinds.   Also if you're looking to add color with accessories there are alot of good clearance deals on the deep red colors for pillows, throws, vases and other items.  I've seen items 50 to 90 percent off at JCPenneys, target, Macy's, Dillards, and crate and barrel.  Have fun shopping and good luck with the curtain hunt!
