Does wall paint color have to match your furniture to look good? We have just redone our bedroom, and the bathroom, and now we are getting ready to tackle the living room with a fresh coat. However, we want color!! Our furniture is not a matching set. We have a blue couch, tan recliner, and the ugliest 1950's pea green rocker. We really like a very light green color called Valley Poplar. I am worried that it will clash with the furniture though!! So, does the paint color HAVE to match your furniture in order to look good?

No your wall color doesn't have to match your furniture, but it should compliment it. Have you thought about doing just an accent wall with the color you like and leave the rest a more neutral color. Very light shades can also compliment well such as grays, tans, and yellows. At least you'll have a start on color and can go with a deeper color later. When I grew up we mainly had white walls, so I love color on the walls. I'll try and find a couple of good websites about wall color. I know HGTV has a good show about color when it comes to homedecor, but I can't remember the show off the top of my head. I'll try and find that too. I'll get back to you in a few days.
