Hi,

I'm thinking of moving to the Austin, Roundrock area. Can anyone give me  information on  places to rent.?General info on climate? (Live in California now) Job Market? Overall what you like & dislike? I'm a single woman looking for a fresh start after raising my Daughter and sick of the rat race and materialistic ways of Southern Calif. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Happyladylm     :)

What line of work are you in?  What types of things are you looking to have around where you live?  Are you looking to rent an apartment, house, etc?

Where in SoCal do you live now?  My family moved to RR from Carlsbad, CA almost 4 years ago.

Hi,

Thank you for responding back to my post.

Receptionist,Admin Assistant, Customer service work. Start out renting an apartment. Just a one bedroom. It's just me making the move. Have around me: Shopping center for general things,Food etc... I like to walk and go on hikes and ride my bike.

I live in Castaic. It's a little truck stop town, but building up. It's about 6 miles north of Valencia(Santa Clarita Valley). Six Flags Magic Mountain is also located there.

I don't need alot of stores, but it's nice to know when you need them. I need a full time job and I've had a part time job also at the mall here for almost 5 years. Laid-off from that job July 31st and then laid off from my 1st job 2 weeks later. I've been wanting out of California for years now. I can't afford a home or even a condo here. Maybe it's a sign now to move.

I want a new start with new friendly people and new adventures.

Hi, there, and welcome to Austin Life!

How did you choose Round Rock as a possible destination?

My family is from San Francisco, and my DH and I moved here 28 years ago. Long story, but we followed my parents. The greater Austin area is terrific for a multitude of reasons. We have a healthy, outdoorsy lifestyle here, with hike and bike trails all over. We don't have the most efficient public transportation system, though, so you do need your vehicle. As far as shopping, that's a national pastime around here, LOL!

If you email me via my profile, I can put you in touch with recruiter friends of mine (it's a tight community here, so they all help each other out). The job market is a little slow, right now, as Dell just laid off some folks and is getting ready for another big layoff.

Do you have a move timeframe planned?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I was  laid off from my full and part jobs last month. It's time for a new start for me. I was thinking of moving in a couple of months. Possibly in November. I have to give 30 days notice on my apartment. Where are there nice ,but inexpensive areas? What do you like most and enjoy least about Roundrock and Austin? I'm a single lady and not afraid of change. I raised my Daughter and like I said, I feel it's time for a change. Any help about the area would be so appreciated. It helps to hear about a place from people who actually live there. I'm also thinking of coming out next month for 4 or 5 days.

LaVon :)
