Ok - so my one neighbor gave me a bunch of maters today. BEST I have EVER TASTED!!!!! 89

They grow mostly little & like GRAPES !!!!! More than I've ever seen on a plant & they are SWEET!!! YUMMY!

Now my original other neighbor does not remember what HYBRID they are but WOW@

Any ideas? I want to do these next year -- but not sure if it's the HYBRID or the FERTILIZER. Neighb said she uses a mix of:
SWEET TOBACCO JUICE
RED PEPPER FLAKES &&&
something else I can't remember. Any ideas? I'll hafta ask her....

Wanna do this next year --- most imp = any ideas of the hybrid, soil mix, fertilizer mix??????

PLEASE! I am in heaven -----and apparently greenthumb challenged. I can't make more than a few cherry tomatoes every summer in my upside down plant ---- I do think that system is GOOD - it's just ME, the FARMER< that can't do it so well.

Maters are my FAVE FOOD EVER!!!

Could be sweet 100's or sweet millions.  Especially if they grow in almost clusters!!!

I cant remember the name of the golden ones I have but its something like sungold. Those are also flavorfull and sweet!

Gotta say I HAVE  tomatoes overwhelming me...much better than last year !! Even though the chippies have started swiping again, I still have way too many!! Of course I started with way too many pots of them!!

I am fascinated by new varieties I find.

I have granny smith, green zebra, garden peach, oregon spring, black krim, purple cherokee(think hat is the name), elberta  along with ordinary ones!!!

Hi and Welcome!!!

Sweet 100's are the first that come to my mind too but I do not think they are a "grape" tomato. There is a sweet heart grape tomato and a few other that are "grape" shaped (cabernet and Flamingo come to mind). Sweet Pea is a currant tomato - very small!

THere are so many grape and cherry varieties nowadays it could be one of many.

My favorite small tomatoes this year are my Chocolate Cherry Tomatoes and my Pear Tomatoes (they are a yellow variety).

I have not tried the upside down growing method, but I grow in raised beds and also in earthboxes and a few containers here and there.

I planted 32 tomato plants of various varieties this year. My absolute favorite is the Black Krim with the Japanese Heirloom a close second for my large tomatoes.

I LOVE the Black Krim too!!! I also have Japanese Heirloom tomatoes and they are good too. I just tried a green zebra today from a neighbor - yummy!

You should try and find Chocolate Cherry tomatoes for next year. They have been VERY prolific and very good. I have saved some seeds or starting next year - hoping they grow true.

Sorry the chippies are still after all your yummy stuff. My dogs Love the tomatoes and just pick whatever they want when they want. sigh. I have lost a few off my good Black Krims to them - guess that is their favorite too. :)

I have not had much luck with the black krim, but I know i had 2 of those to start and someone swiped both so i got one of the last ones they had left at a garden center...so it really got potted late.  I am going to put some more of the bobcat urine around the plants but i must confess i am getting enough tomatoes to eat, more than enough!!!

I did get some of the chocolate cherry seeds this year but did not end up starting any of them from seed.

hopefully next year wil be able to do that.

am on vacation this week and making sure to eat at least one cheese and tomato sandwich every day.  the last couple have been with some golden tomato, but i am not sure which variety other than saying they are fantastic flavorwise!!

right now fighting with the new BIG tv i finally got hooked up and managed to get the tv stations programmed in. now trying to solve the playing dvd issue. am sure it is something super simple and basic but it does not help when you dont know what you are doing!!
