Winterizing your garden?

just wondering if you live in an area with 4 seasons and if you do have you winterized your garden yet,,, working on it ,  or just running out of time.   

I think except for raking leaves which I'll be doing until the first snow,, I'm about done with the winterizing of my garden... I started way back mid Sept... yesterday I put away all the cushions to the garden furniture,  cut back all the roses and that pretty much closes the season here for us. 

What about you?

If time and weather permit, I chop and catch my leaves using the lawn mower, then I dig them into my garden. I do this almost every year, I figure the more organic matter the better. But I also save a few bags of raked leaves to cover my perennials in mid November, after the ground has frozen.

Hi Jeffrey, those are excellent tips  and ideas... next year I may try to do that... well I do mow them but I'll try to spread  some under the hedges... thanks! hope you're finished by now...
