Not good at pumpkin carving?
Try this, instead, then!
Draw , print or cut out a picture you like...be it a bat, witch's hat, broom, etc. Make it out in black paper ..no detail needed! Be sure it will fit on the front of your pumpkin, though!
Now, cut a large enough hole in the front of the pumpkin for that picture to fit in...plus some margin around the edges. Cover the hole with Saran or other plastic wrap and glue or tape (on the back) the picture to the plastic wrap.
You will get the silhouette of your cutout with light shining around it and it looks really great!
You can pin the plastic wrap down, wrap completely around the pumpkin, tape in place in back or use tacks or brads to outline the "doorway with the picture".
