New ideas in recycling....sort of
Some of them aren't all that new....but some are. Ski exchanges and snowboard exchanges and even soccer show exchanges have been going on here for years.
But the article is interesting and perhaps will stimulate some new ideas on how to recycle unwanted articles...
People keep getting neat new ideas for recycling and reusing things. Here are just a few:
A company in Colorado takes old skis and snowboards and turns them into out- door furniture such as picnic tables and lawn chairs. Skis and snowboards make great outdoor furniture because they're built to last, even in snow and ice.
After a field of rice is harvested, the leftover straw often gets burned. Now, in California, some of it is being made into newspaper.
Melted-down plastic yogurt cups, soap bottles, and car bumpers are being made into railroad ties (for train tracks). Regular wood ties may last about 12 years. These new recycled-plastic ties may last 50!
And what about the lawn ornaments? They're made from old garden tools!
