I live in a condo and want to completely remodel the bathroom. Where do I begin? Hire an interior designer? Or a contractor? I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do.

Thanks

I think a contractor is probably a good idea as a bathroom remodel might mean a plumbing inspection and a contractor can not only hire the plumber but also get you through that inspection. Here is an explanation for San Mateo County, CA:

This requirement may (likely will) vary from county to county, state to state so it would be wise to check.

IMO, anything that requires building inspectors is best done by a pro...

Designers, on the other hand, are an added cost that are only necessary if you aren't sure what you want it to look like, and it sounds to me like you KNOW what you want...

But you might consult a realtor you trust to determine what is considered an asset in your condominium complex for resale --- unless you are planning on staying there for five years or more (and thereby getting your money's worth in enjoyment of the space), you do NOT want to "overbuild" for your neighborhood.

Hoe this helps, and good lick in your remodel.

If you can, keep us posted on your progress.
