my goal has been to get katya's outdoor pen built ever since i adopted her. its been raining lots here and then i've been having problems with my foot and lately back spasms. today i put the pen together (measuring and cutting the coroplast and pvc pipes). what a chore! it took me hours to get it done. tomorrow i get to do the really fun stuff- dig up a patch of lawn 8' x 3', sink 8" worth of chicken wire around the perimeter in the ground, and fill it back up. i checked the ground today and its as hard as a rock. where's the rain when i need it???? so after i get it all done i will have my 3 pens. i'll be sure to post some pics.

Oh yes, I want to see what they look like. Take it easy with that foot. You are still going in for surgery in a few days, right?

wow was it EXHAUSTING to build that pen! i forgot just how labor intensive it is! luckily i had help from my mom and brother. my brother used the cultivator and dug up the ground and we dug it down 8" deep. the most troublesome thing was adding the chicken wire underground. let's just say that i never want to build another pen again! lol luckily this time there was only a root or 2 underground. when my brother helped me cultivate my backyard garden the ground was about 98% root. we dug up 9' x 25' for that.

i had my surgery today. i'll post about that in a sec. ;-)

Congrats on getting it done, that's awesome! I'm so glad you had help from your mother and brother, too, that sounds like a lot of hard labor. I'm sure Katya will love the pen and I can't wait to see the pictures!

she hasn't gone in the pen yet- the dirt is too soft. its so pathetic right now- just dirt! i did buy a hosta today to plant in it. i'd like to buy a couple more and get her in it.
