Just checking in to see if anyone's pets participated in Halloween festivities or were involved in Halloween in any way? Obviously our fish kept to their normal routine, LOL, but the dogs did get to come out in turns and help greet the trick-or-treaters. After all of the kids had been by, they were exhausted which worked out well since we were heading out to a party!

Any time someone comes to the door a couple of our dogs poke their heads in between the blinds over our big living room window, so the kids would see them and get all excited. The dogs and kids both enjoyed it when we would bring one of the girls out with us to meet the trick-or-treaters. The other dogs left behind inside would bark, but we're in the city so I don't mind at all that people know there are dogs living here who will sound the alarm when strangers approach!

I have two greyhounds, both retired/rescued from the race track.  Jester is 9 and Lynn, 10.  Jester never read the instructions, so does not know that greyhounds are supposed to be quiet dogs.  He barks and has taught Lynn how to do it, too, though hers is more of a croak than a bark.  Fortunately, this Halloween I took them to my SO's "upnorth" as we say in Michigan, so they didn't have an opportunity to greet the kids at the door.

They did however, escape out of the yard and have a romp in the moonlight.  Not much scarier for a fur-mom than a loose greyhound or two!  They have no clue where they are after they take off at 35mph and run for a couple minutes.  To their credit, they had not gone far and I was able to call them back.  Their trick, my treat.

I can see how easily it would be for Greyhounds to just take off and not even realize where they're running! It's great that they came right back when you called, though.

I still remember one day we were walking through the park and I was commenting on how nicely a Greyhound was walking with her owner. He was even on his cell phone, but she was heeling so nicely with slack in the leash. As my husband and I were admiring her training, a squirrel dashed by in front of her and she just about jerked her owner's arm out of his socket taking off after it! I'm amazed he even was able to hold onto his cell phone as she dragged him over to the tree that the squirrel climbed.
