hello....
I'll be going to Australia for about a week and a half later this year. My mom and I will be spending 5 days in each Sydney and Melbourne.
Plans so far include -
Sydney
-Captain Cook cruise of Sydney Harbour
-Bridge Climb
-Featherdale Wildlife Park and Blue Mountains Tour

Melbourne
-Tram Car Dinner
-morning sightseeing tour of Melbourne
-Private and Personal Penguins Experience tour

I'm visiting this board looking for any advice. Any "must see" places or "must do" things?
Any "gothca's"?
must take things or just leave at home items?

Any advice is welcome and appreciated!!!

Oh, Veronica, that's my dream trip!!! Welcome to the board, I hope you have a blast!! I will check with my son, he went a few years ago during high school, but I'm sure he remembers some of the things he did or thought about. Can't remember if he went to Melbourne but I know he was in Sydney.

I sure hope you will post your trip report and any pics when you get back. We would all love to see them, me especially!!! We love to travel, vicariously if necessary!!

I am headed to New Zealand -- RV trip on the south island.. was originally planning to go to OZ but my friend wants to leave after experiencing the dust storm and then the sunami .. what a wuss. ha!

I would check out the GoldCoast while you are in Sydney --
you are going to have a blast.

Check in after you come back we can compare notes.

Australia is a nice place for a tour.The only mention i want to recommend is to obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling.  You should check any exclusions, and that your policy covers you for all the activities you want to undertake since Australia is prone to seasonal natural disasters including tropical cyclones, flash flooding, dust storms and bushfires (forest fires).
