My husband told me about this travel agency in England that is offering a 3 week all inclusive (even the flight) trip to Jamaica at Sandals for only £280 per person. Normally, a trip like that would be about 3-4 times that much. We went to Jamaica for ONE week, at a less expensive hotel and it was about £670 per person (which we considered a pretty good deal, it was the cheapest option they had!). I mean, I usually consider myself lucky if I can get a round trip flight to see my family for £280 and here is a flight, hotel, meals, drinks, etc for 3 weeks for that?

So of course the catch is that it's during Christmas and New Years. Although a tempting offer, I could never imagine spending Christmas away from family. Although this will be my 5th Christmas without my family in the US, we still spend it with my in-laws - it may not be my ideal but it's close enough. And since I've always lived in places with cold winters, I can't even imagine spending Christmas on a hot beach! It just wouldn't hold the same Christmas feel and spirit.

It's not that we're considering this trip at all (in-laws are elderly and we can't leave them alone on Christmas, hence why it's my 5th Christmas without my family in the US) but it just made me wonder if anyone else would ever consider this or if anyone has ever done something like this?

Wow what a great deal!! That would be hard not to consider.

As a kid, we would spend Christmas in Atlanta (from Chicago), visiting friends. It happened at least 3 times that I can remember. Back then, it still felt like Christmas as my family was there and we went to church Christmas Eve, just like back home.

As an adult I haven't spent Christmas anywhere else but with my family. I have a dream of spending Christmas in Hawaii, to be somewhere different, but am pretty sure that isn't going to happen! Maybe one day, I'll spend the holiday somewhere else, but not in the near future.

Great question!
