We had planned to go to the Canadian Rockies this summer for 6 - 8 weeks, but my Dad wasn't doing well in May so we knew we couldn't leave. Then he passed away in late June and by the time the dust had settled it was already August.
I'm sorry about your Dad! At least you have a better idea of where to vacation next time. did you watch any of the National Parks program by Ken Burns on PBS? I heard it was really good, but haven't had a chance to catch it. I imagine they'll rerun it over the winter.
