Ok, I admit that my van used to be horrible! Seriously, old french fries and cheerios, crumbs etc all over the place. I am a busy mom, what can I say? LOL I have changed 3 things and adopted one rule. I have one black milk crate and one fabric sturdy box in the back. One is for items that stay (milk crate) that includes: a first aid kit, 1 diaper and travel sized wipes, hand sanitizer, an umbrella, febreeze auto spray, ice scraper, and a few bottles of water and coupons. The other bin is for things that go, such as, returns, letters to be mailed, mail that comes home etc. I also keep plastic grocery bags to keep my garbage in. Finally, I keep it clean by ALWAYS throwing my garbage bag out and straightening while I at the gas station pumping gas :)

Mine is ok at the minute, it had to be cleared out to take all of DSs stuff when he went back to Uni a couple of weeks ago, so there are just the basics, manual, spare shopping bags, some cd cases. I need to sort out the box of "emergency" type stuff (warning triangle, safety vest, spare bulbs etc) Will put that on my ToDo! Thanks for the reminder!!

I must admit, my car is usually out of control. I work from it often, usual with day-travel that can involve a day that lasts 8-16 hrs, and several of those in a row.

The longer my car stays 'clean', the better I feel. Reality check -- from time to time, we get out of control and we have to purge it all and start over.

Maps go in the door pockets, change goes in a 'secret stash' (small dash cubby left of the steering wheel) , and the bottom 'drawer' beneath the radio houses ink pens and the car-charger for my cell phone. I'm the mom of 3 busy girls ages 10-18, so we all LIVE in the car and on the go. However, we "bin" it...

1 small basket is in between the front seats  to bin jewelry, scarf, hairbrush, makeup -- all that instant-refresher 'kit' stuff for me to look like I'm still on top of my game even at the umpteenth meeting in a row.

1 basket or box (bigger than a shoe box, smaller than a portable filing drawer) is 'housed' in the back seat for girl stuff "to-go"... (they have habits of changing clothes between events and between the seats)

1 box, usually wide enough for letter-sized files, is housed between the front seats, too, to hold my work stuff. (We manage a LOT of paper.)

This is reality. We won't win any awards, but we will look like a million bucks even if we 'changed' in the car, lol.

Some great ideas and certainly nothing to blush about there Heather!
