discussion title:
Mini Challenge - Screws, NailNuts, etc.
I have a vast accumulation of spare screws, nails, nuts, bolts, etc.
You know what I'm talking about - those two extra leftover screws from a do it yourself bookcase project, the partially used package of picture hanging hooks left over after you have hung all your pictures, etc.
Mostly those tiny amounts just get dumped into a 3 lb. recycled country crock tub (sighs maybe 2 tubs) and by golly, their time has come! I can never find the right screw or nail when I am looking for it and I am tired of it all being so disorganized.
I am ready to tackle it during the next several days. I have some of those plastic organizers with 30 or so tiny drawers that I am going to use for holding them all.
My plan of attack:
- Separate the different sizes and types of everything
- Discard the ones I am never going to realistically use - reminding myself often that I could always run to the hardware store if I needed it again, as well as remembering how many times I have needed that particular item in the 9 years we have lived in this house (generally ZERO!)
- Put them into the appropriate drawers.
- Label the drawers using my label maker so things are easy to find later.
So how about it? Who's got their own secret stash of loose hardware? Are you up for the challenge of bringing some kind of organization to it? How about at least going through yours and discarding what you don't need anymore?
If yours are already fabulous, how about lending us your moral support? :)
