Here's a variation on a that theme:

Use zipper sandwich bags. Package different items (1 soap, 1 shampoo, 1 lotion, 1 mouthwash), ask a youth group or Scout group to combine these with 1 washcloth. Donate the completed packages to Red Cross approved shelters and/or other shelters. These personal hygiene packets were vital for the evacuees housed in our area during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Our church youth group reserves a shelf in a closet to 'house' such items and periodically the youth and/or Scouts package them together... sometimes a comb or toothbrush is added, as well. Even if the packages aren't 'identical', they are helpful.

One good idea is to donate items like that to the local homeless shelter or a shelter for battered women. Trial sizes of personal care items and make-up are usually very welcomed!

Welcome to the board Jeanne and thanks for you great suggestion too - have you done that before?

Are you a follower of Jamies' advice or new to her? There are some great articles and advice here at iVillage to help you get organized  (click here Jamie Novak) - and we are always on the lookout for ideas and advice as to what has worked for you - take a look at Jamies post here too November Goals I'm going to give it some thought before I put mine down in black & white :-)

Looking forward to hearing more from you soon!
