Hi ladies,

My name is Maria. I currently live in the College Station area, but we are looking to relocate to San Antonio. My husband lost his job and got an offer (finally!) for a company located in the Medical Center area. This is perfect for me, because I was in nursing school (withdrew because of my pregnancy), so hopefully I could transfer into UTSA.

However, I guess I'm still apprehensive. What are the parks like there? Are there any mom's groups? I'm pretty active in one now, and I love meeting up with them for the kiddos to play. I currently have a 4 y.o. and a 2 month old.

Any info you could pass onto me about living in San Antonio would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry, I really don't have much info for you.. My husband is stationed at Ft.Sam and we live on base.. I'm a bit of a homebody and don't really venture off base much.. I'm sure some of the other ladies will have some info for you though. I did want to welcome you to the board. I'm Beck, married to Chris. We have two kiddos age 6 and 4. We've been here for about a year and a half and we have about another year and a half left here. ~Beck (who is need of a new siggy!)

Hi and congratulations on the job offer!!!  San Antonio is

a great place for families.  The Med. Center is booming and

you won't have a problem finding housing.  We have great

parks and a wonderful zoo.  There are so many things to

do for entertainment...so you won't be bored.  UTHSC has

a great nursing program and as you know...nurses are in

high demand everywhere.  I am familiar with C.S. and I

don't think you will be disappointed living here. I can best

sum it up by saying that San Antonio is a big city with a

small town feel.

Welcome and hope to see you on the SA board more,

Mary

Hi there Maria, and welcome to the board.

I am Olivia, married to Steban, sahm to Aston 4, Lexus 12, and Mercedes 15.  We live in south SA, but use to live in the medical center.

As far as parks....I have always thought our parks were okay, until I heard from many others that they kind of suck and nothing like the parks in Austin.  But honestly I can't say that since I have never been anywhere else...lol.  The one park that was our FAVORITE when we lived in the medical center was the Raymond Rimkus park on Evers in Leon Valley.  Here is their site:  http://www.leonvalleytexas.gov/parks.htm

As far as mom's groups....I am sure we have many around the city, but not familiar with any.  I just found a great website that could probably help you out with everything.  I love this site too because it gives great ideas of where to take you kids for activities and play-time, etc.  Here it is:  http://momsaroundsa.com/
