Many stitchers and sewers have cross-addictions and indulge in many different types of crafts.

Which one is your absolute favorite? Is it another needlecraft, or do you dabble in totally different media (like pottery, glass, wood, paper, etc.).

Please tell us about your favorite needlecraft and/or your favorite "outside-thegenre" craft...

What is your favorite needlework embellishment?
In these economically challenged times, do you think we need a Repair Manifesto?
What do you do to get yourself out of a style slump?

My favorite needlecraft (and favorite overall craft, for that matter) is cross-stitch, although I also favor speciality stitches like blackwork and even surface/free embroidery. I like the way a project develops as one stitches... the colors, the patterns, etc.

My "outside-the-genre" craft is rubber stamping/paper crafting. I enjoy crafting greeting cards and Artist Trading Cards and dabble in altered art as well. Papercrafting forces me to "invent" - in stitchery, I have patterns to follow but in papercrafting, I can "wing it", playing with color, pattern and different media!

I have always wanted to branch out a little --- beading in the needlecraft genre and stained glass outside the genre... but never seemed to find the time or motivation. But I have signed up for a beading journal project starting in 2010 so perhaps I will actually find a new craft to play with!

Well, I love crafts in general. I was crafting way before I started sewing. I dabble in a number of outside the genre crafts. But, by far my favorite is drawing/painting. I love doing it so much that when I graduated high school I seriously considering majoring in studio art. I still considering it occasional but I am afraid with 2 little ones and a husband in the military that when I do go back to school next fall (that is the plan anyways) that I won't have the proper amount of time to dedicate to majoring in Studio Art.
Photobucket This is one of the piece I did a few years ago, since I don't have any pictures of any of my newer stuff accessible on the computer.

With your talent, at least take SOME art courses when you go back t school.

And well done you, for doing that with two little ones!
