My SIL did a plate that turned out quite good. It was a clear glass plate with fabric pasted on the underside of the plate. This actually leaves the plate usable for food service. She dressed up her Christmas table by using cloth with Poinsettia flowered print. Of course, they aren't dishwasher safe, but they're very useful for cookies, or cupcakes etc.
