Give yourself the OK to dress a different way!

or maybe http://www.coralstars.com/2008/11/how-to-shake-up-your-style//

What do you do to get yourself out of a style slump?

In these economically challenged times, do you think we need a Repair Manifesto?

Style slump is hardly the apt description. I have never been "in style" but since Saudi Arabia, where being fully covered with an abaya when in public, I have been in a style PIT! Jeans and tees are my thing. Dressing up is HARD to do even for a dressy event, let alone day-to-day.

So any suggestions are more than welcome!

Of course, if I change my look, I might scare some people! So maybe I should do this gradually, if at all...

Hi Carol,

Theres nothing wrong with jeans & T-shirts but since you want to spruce up your style a bit there are quite a few simple things you can do to start off with.
Start with the T-shirts. There are T-shirts that have small bows you can tie in the front or back, some have ruffled sleeves, some even have pretty bead work or rhinestones on them.
Costume jewerlry is another easy trick to add some glam. It comes in every size, shape & color you can imagine, depending on where you shop it can range from $1.00 per piece on up. So stop by your favorite store and pick up a few pieces that will go with a few outfits you already have a home. I'd start with a few basic colors such as black, silver, gold, brown, blue, maybe even a red.
All of those colors will make a simple jean & white T outfit pop.
Buy yourself a new purse. Make sure its a color that you dont already have.
Since you posted this you must want to make this change. Of course  its a little bit frightening at first to make any sort of change but you can do this. Once you make little changes I'm sure people will notice & shower you will compliments :)

How about this T-shirt? If the neck is embellished you shouldn't wear a necklace with it but a nice black bangle would be pretty.

i went clothes shopping last week and tried on clothes for 3 hours. i tried on everything- which is unusual for me. i bought styles of tops that i've never worn before but thought were nice. i ended up spending quite a lot of money, which is something that i never do while shopping. but i figure that i hadn't bought new clothes in over 3 years that it was ok.

Well done, pink! I suspect that is something I really need to do --- find a really really good store and just LOOK! Maybe I would find something I like this season... and could put it on my wish list for Christmas!
