Superwomen!

Ever since we got our new stove, We have had this weird smell occasionally. It wasnt evertime we used the stove, just sometimes, and even then it was only the 2 power burners. It wasnt gas we were smelling either.

Then last night, I was making Dinner. That smell was around, but I was trying to do a recipe that claimed it would be ready in 20 minutes. It wasnt, I had pumpkining kids and the usual chaos. I asked DH to put the chicken back in the oven. As he bent down to put the chicken in he said "Well, I found the source of the smell."

Apparently, our Powerburners were burning the handles on one of my smaller pots. Here I was trying to Reduce down a pomegranted glaze and literally burning the plastic handles on my pot. The only way we could get them to NOT burn was to move the pot to a smaller less powerfull burner.

The poor pots Black plastic handle is now white and flaking on the bottom of one side, the other side got charred but thats about it.

I guess we got too good a stove, and now only the BIG pots and pans are allowed to be used on those burners. LOL

That reminds me of when Alex was about 3, he was playing with Hotwheels and stuck 2 in my broiler.  When I turned on the oven that day, this horrible smell took over the whole house.  Then the oven started to smoke.  So, I opened the door to see 2 shells from Hotwheels, all the plastic had melted. 

We ate out that evening.

Oh man, that would be a MESS for sure. I know ours is a matter of we have to pay attention to which pots we use where, but generally speaking nothing melted onto anything else.

I do wonder what he thought when he put the hotwheels in there. I mean really, what says "Hey this is a great idea?"
