What is your idea of holiday decorating?

Do you display wall-to-wall decor in every room? Are your family and friends afraid to stay in one place too long for fear you may decorate them, too?

Or are you a minimalist who advocates a "less is more" approach?

Share some of your ideas so we can learn from one another.

TIA

Francine

Again, since I travel often , even in the holiday season,,  it's  hard to decorate all over...  I have had to put up a tree on the 18th only to take it down on the 21st,, tons of work, but had to be.  In order to keep my sanity ,  I keep it simple.  that is not always "minimal".    Normally I put up a HUGE tree (live) and decorate it fully.. last year we weren't in a place that sold XMAS trees so did manage to find a pretty scrawny awful looking artificial one,, and bought it and decorated it.  I had brought lights with me luckily. (oh, and I had started bringing some ornaments at least the ones that my mom made that are like quilted and not breakable.  I always put out a wreath (bought one to bring with me : artificial which I'll decorate there and hang) and I bought a different one to make a table top wreath (advents kranze) for the dining table,, bringing the candles for it also. these two along with a few other things will have to be hand carried. sigh.   Will put up the artificial tree again,, will hang balls and stars on red or silver /gold ribbons from the hanging lamp over the DR table.   I have some deco from ds's childhood for the window or mirror,,,  he loves them, so packed them too.  Let's see, what else.  I bought some very pretty table runners (also one for ds' table at his place, with snowflakes and reindeers on it, hope he likes it).   I am a minimalist in my deco anyway, so a little goes a long way.. but I like hanging things in the door ways and in windows etc...  lots of ribbons and things.  I also only decorate the entry way, windows in the kitchen, the LR , DR and TV room  ,, not the bedrooms or baths  (well a tiny bit of green in the guest WC)....

We've gotten into the *less is more* mode now Francine,
We decorate the stairwell, mantel & part of the front hallway.
That's about it for us :)

A lot less now - trying to keep things simple and not so much work.  Outside are a few lighted deer and lights wrapped on the deck.  Inside is a small tree (no more room for large trees) and a few ornaments.
