This year seems to be starting off as a blue year for me.  Finding the energy or desire to fly is a major road block for me.  I am trying to do stuff off my 3 simple list and find myself forgetting to do them...  I know that taking my meds is very important and that i should not forget but i seem to be going sometimes days and not taking meds wondering why i am feeling bad... Gee if i took meds would feel bettter.  I noticed this because for some reason i have 6 weekly meds things around and i cant tell if i have taken my meds or not.   Plus my dh has been sick for almost 6 months with this sinus thing he has and that has me done.  Plus work hours are cut.  Yeah i have more time to sit around and think i know that i need to get off my duff and start doing simple things.  like setting the timer and cleaning an area.  I am going to try and do this.  I am also going to make a list of things i  need to do first thing is to get one weekly med thing set up and take meds.  Thanks for listening... Cole

Maybe having an accoutability partner/friend would help?  I know when I'm feeling down and having trouble getting motivated, it helps to have someone else to talk with and encourage each other in doing our tasks.  Knowing someone else will be chatting with you about it can be a good motivator to get busy!  Just a thought.  Also, try to just focus on one thing at a time which is a lot less overwhelming than thinking about everything at once.  :)

Hi Cole

I have problems remembering my meds too. I have found that setting an alarm, on your cell-phone or watch or something you always have with you, really helps to keep me consistent.

Another thing that has worked for me when I have too much time on my hands and still not getting anything done is to pick just one thing you will work on. For instance, I hate doing housework, so instead of saying that I am going to clean the house, I will decide to do the dishes, which is an easy task for me that I don’t mind doing. Usually by standing at the sink and clearing up the dishes, it makes me inspired to clean off the counters and get out the cleaners and it takes me no time at all and my kitchen is clean. Now this doesn’t work all the time, many times I do the dishes and then go right back to doing nothing. But as long as I have done something, I feel good about myself.

A friend of mine got me started on giving myself little rewards. She started this while in college, having to get through studying for a subject she found boring. She would give herself an M&M after each paragraph she read, and she found she was much more motivated to do the studying. It really works. The key is to give the reward immediately after the effort and making the reward and effort both really small. When I have to do work that I have been putting off, I get a bag of M&Ms, put them in a little bowl on my desk, and then give myself an M&M for every 10 minutes of concentrated work. So if you have certain goals and they can be broken up into REALLY small steps, get a reward that will really motivate you, and then reward yourself every time you do the activity.

I make lists and list of things to do.  It works.  I joined Kick Start to lose weight but I know there are other things I have to work on.  I would like to change my emotional well being.  Instead of being emotionsal there was one time when I showed no emotions just like in a stupor.  What I was afraid of I think is being too emotional.

At the same time it doesn't do any good to be angry at people and not being able to stop thinking about it.

Your mind goes on and goes and it doesn't help.

hello ladies, i am sorry that i haven't been back on the board lately, I would like to thank you for all of your advice, to say that 08 has been a year of change is true for me.  On Jan 9th my dh drove himself to the er where we found out that he had a huge tumor on his chest that was pressing againist his windpipe causing him to have problems breathing the reason for the trip to the er.  Well they found out he had Pneumonia on top of all that, so they waited until the 11th to do a bisopy but antiesa but there foot down and had a ct scan done, which showed the tumor to be about the size of a sheet of paper, they said grapefruit but that is what i saw on the the ct scan.  They started radation that day and he had 4 doses of it which shrunk it a lot.  He then had the bisopy on 15th and we didn't find out until the 25th what type of cancer it was which is hodgkin's lymphoma, which is very treatable.  But this year will be the year that we both get in shape and do more stuff together. Well let me close, i hope i made some sense i am tired to the bone.  Everyone take care cole
