I've found it really difficult to continue living in a positive way since the death of my husband a year ago.

that is, until I realized that the only way to get through things, is with the help of your friends. I love my 3 best girls very much, but have been shutting them out this entire year, in hopes I could get through this on my lonesome. I was always an independent woman, opinionated, and headstrong..what's so different now, thought I.

But after watching Bonneville (www.bonevillethemovie.com) the other day, I realized the power of friendship can do miracles. I was on Prozac for a while, and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was my mechanism, and then I realized my girls could be my mechanism, my anti drug.

And here I am, starting my new life at 50. With the powerful movie starring Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, and Joan Allen, imprinted as inspiration, my own best friends by my side, and the antidepressants in the cabinet, I'm ready to kick start my new life at 50.

Wish me luck.

Oh I heard about that movie!

It looks like a female version of "the bucket list" out last month. The coming of age of two old pals. I was looking into it, but if it affected you that much..seems interesting enough.

Good luck girl! I wish you all the best, and firmly believe that you can do anything you set your mind to. And age is merely a number.

Well fotsamandgetsam, I'm with ya. I lost my husband 6 years ago!! and it seems like yesterday. I still haven't gotten back on track. We lived in a small town where he went for a career opportunity. I had no friends there or family except my adult son. Then he moved. My husband died quiet unexpectedly one day, and I was in total shock. I've been on Prozac ever since. My mom died the year before my husband and my dad just died 6 months ago. I need to get on with it too. I'll try to go check out the movie. I love to go to movies, and now that I have the time, I don't go! I don't do anything! I hope your period doesn't last as long as mine has. I don't want to forget my husband, as I'm sure you don't, but we are the ones left here to go on, and on we must go somehow.
I hope you haven't been plagued with the "widow hunters" like I was. They can be a pain, or a comfort depending how you look at it. I'll be checking back from time to time if anyone else like us wants to continue talking about this. chirp chirp
