The message below was sent to us by Carole Texley Gibbons, a former American Airlines Flight Attendant, in response to Linda Souder's tribute to her colleagues from Flight 77. Linda's story can be found by going to the reclaimingthesky.com home page. In the right column, click on WHY I FLY for January, 06.
A special thank you to Carole:
Linda,
I give you a lot of credit for still hanging in there. I quit a few years back because I never felt safe. I flew out of Dulles on September 11, 2001. I had a turn to Dallas that morning so I was fortunate to see (crew for 77) Ken and Jennifer, Chic, and MJ that morning. I did not see Dave because he was running late. I will never forget their smiling faces!!
When I was sent this website and saw the picture with Terry hanging the American flag out of the cockpit of the first flight home from LAX I burst into tears as if it was yesterday. I am discovering that the pain will never go away. I remember it daily. Our friends smiling faces will always be in our thoughts.
Good luck to you and all my fellow stew friends. Hang in there.
