Why we keep going - the energizer bunny!
Each day since 9/11/01 I have had to talk myself into getting into my uniform and going on my assigned flight. "What if's" take over my brain. But the "what if's" are topped by my desire that NO ONE shall dictate my life and take away my freedom. We have done so much as a group at DCA in honor of those we lost that horrible day....the Michele Heidenberger Memorial Video Library, the Kennifer Garden, the Renee May Museum tour for the blind...surely we can keep going for ourselves and our country.
Even though I still wish to retire each and every day, I refuse to give "them" that pleasure (before I'm 55), nor do I want to send the wrong message to my children. Yes, they are afraid whenever I put on my uniform, but they also know why I do it. Not for the money (yes, that helps a little), not for the fun of the job (it's gone), not for the glamour (back in the day), but for my own personal satisfaction.....if I get through this flight it's one more slap in the face to those who wish do to us harm.
I will keep going on....what about you????
