Here is a copy of my letter to all of the NBC e-mails that were listed. I hope it helps. Although I doubt they will really make a difference. I feel really bad for everyone that is out of a job today, they did nothing wrong but do their job and now their families are all at risk financially. This country is in real trouble.
Dear....
I write you with great respect for your position and please know that I am an NBC daily watcher through and through. However, I feel compelled to write to you and express my unhappiness with your decision to cancel a terrific midday show that I truly looked forward to watching.
I own my own successful home based business. For me, television is not a distraction from my work, it provides a separate stimulant to the part of my brain that hungers for creativity. In the Loop was good for me and I am sure so many others, because it was not just another chat show, or "Martha-type" show. The shows content (despite NBC not sharing my opinion) really made me think of things that I would not have otherwise.
The hosts were unique, very real and generously shared their personal lives with the audience, which might I add is what made it so special. Hollywood or TV hosts rarely show us the true side of themselves. The show was very refreshing, now I am not sure that there is anything at that time that can encourage me to turn on the television.
It is with great sadness that again a show that really makes a difference is being yanked simply because the show was not taped in NY or LA. If this show had been filmed in one of those cities, I am sure it's chances would have been better. A Chicago location gave people like us here in Ft. Lauderdale a view of what people in other parts of the country think, feel and experience. Now that I have become hooked, it's gone...just like that!
I would love to see NBC local and National say, "We may have made a mistake" and bring it back, but I doubt they would say that even if they felt that way. After all, corporate America is corporate. But for the sake of those of us that truly take the time to watch so many of these programs and the commercials (which we know is what it's almost all about for NBC and all the other stations) please don't prejudge your audiences.
Perhaps in the future NBC might consider changing up the host(s) or format (s) if success is not achieved, before just canceling a show that we have all become attached to. Obviously NBC did a less than spectacular job of promoting this show.
Why start so many programs just to yank them within 2 years? It must cost a tremendous amount of money to start over and over again. Taking a successful married businessman, a beautiful well known single black woman and a caring, kind, married young white woman was a truly awesome combination. If it's noon at my house, it's always "In the Loop" on NBC and it has been since almost the beginning.
You know, FYI the subject matter (for example) the health segments were terrific! The questions (with health professionals on the set that give immediate straight forward answers) was very helpful for me and my family.
I will miss this show indeed. I am curious to see what NBC decides to replace this show with. I know a part of me will be sad next Monday March 31st.
Thank you for listening,
