Some creditors will work with you
A small celebration for sure...but I take what I can get. A while back I wrote to this board about my mountain of debt and got some kind responses. You guys made me feel that I can over come what seems like an impossible situation. Anyway, I started by calling my creditors. BOA - turned me down flat for any help whatsoever, Discover brought my interest rate down to 3% and Citibank is going to work out a payment plan for me. I know it's not much but I feel so much better. With the lower payments, I can hopefully save my $1000 emergency fund and then start dropping as much cash as I can on the debt. I'm sure it will seem to be taking forever but still at least I feel like I'm getting somewhere.
Thank you Marie for the budget spreadsheet, it is very helpful. And thank you to this board for being here.
One thing I've learned is nothing I spent with these cards was worth what I am going through now. Never again!
